Name of apartment complex and the city in which it is located.
- University
Travel time to school with traffic
1. Less than 5 mins.
How far away are you from a metro-link station?
1. 5-10 mins, it is very handy
On a scale from 1-5 how satisified are you with your apartment complex?
1. 1 Very unsatisified
-- Comment: Overpriced!
The apartments were filthy upon move in, and you were expect to
throughly clean them when you left to receive your full deposit back.
The management is unresponsive at times, and never knows what is going
on. The only redeeming quality of this place is that it is so close to
campus, and that is very nice. However, i think it would be worth the
drive to live somewhere else. If you really want something close to
campus I would suggest looking at Mansion Hills.
2. 5 Very satisified, Meadows is a wonderful place for Optometry students. Building 9, which I am the RA of, is perfect for students who need lots of QUIET time. It is a great place to consider
3. 3
4. 3, The convenience is unmatched. The apartment was very dirty when I moved in. On the upside, if you have a problem with the apartment, it was usually addressed by maintanence quickly. I could go home for lunch. In the evenings, I could walk to the library to study and use the computers. The apartments are very small, though, and noise level from neighbors sometimes was intolerable. The price is a little high, as well. It's best if you plan who your roommate is going to be- preferably another optometry or graduate student who has to study as much as you do! You can rent the apartment furnished if you want to.
5. 3, Rent is really high, but when compared to other places and you factor in parking, gas, utilities (only pay electric and internet/phone at U Meadows) it's not much of a difference. Many time packages and mail get lost and "gated community" is broken more often than it should be. The best feature is that it's within walking distance to class.
6. 1, Very unsatisified, The only plus side to living in the Meadows is that it is on campus. The appartments were dirty apon move-in. Had problems with maintenance staff fixing problems
7. 3, The rooms at the Meadows are relatively small and considerably more expensive than some other options
8. 3, Rent is way too hign and they have lost several of my packages. Gate is always broken and sometimes the hot water goes out. But, it's convenient!
9. 2, The only good thing about this place is how close it is. It was dirty when we moved in and we had to clean everything again. The office manager may be unresponsive as well to problems
How safe do you feel your apartment complex and surrounding area is? A rating of 5 is very safe whereas a rating of 1 is very unsafe.
1. 3, I was in building 9 on the 2nd floor in the front of the building so I felt safe. However, people that lived in different buildings on the ground level or behind the building were always worried about people breaking in. There was also a lot of breaking into cars.
2. 5 Very safe
3. 3
4. 4, It is gated and the police patrol the complex. It's a short walk from the complex to Marillac. I never felt unsafe
5. 4, As stated earlier, the gate is quite often broken
6. 3, Well, it is
7. 4
8. 4

Please comment on closeness to stores, shops, restaurants, gyms etc. (ex. I live 2 blocks away from a Schuncks and
1. Not too much. The galleria mall is about a 10 min drive.
2. close to Schnucks (grocery store) on
3. Some restaurants/grocery shopping close by on
4. There's a Schnucks about a mile away; 15 minutes to Galleria, fast food close by on
5. about 1-2 miles away from schuncks
6. On the UMSL campus, so all campus facilities are a short walk away. Anything else is usually just a few miles drive
7. There are no close grocery stores. Also, the gym is on the other side of campus from the Meadows and it is either a very long walk, a short drive, or a one stop trip on the metro.
8. live down the street from Schuncks and most malls and shopping centers I can reach within a 10 to 15 minute drive
9. There is a Target and Schuncks about 5 miles away
Is this location conducive to studying?
1. 2, There are a lot of undergrads and lots of loud parties
2. Yes, Again, Building 9 of U. Meadows is for Optometry Students. It is very quiet
3. Yes, however, i lived in the optometry building
4. 2, Loud neighbors, music, parties very common. The good thing is the library is right there. I rarely studied in the apartment
5. yes, Depending on which building you are in, neighbors can be loud but not every night - maybe once or twice a month
6. Yes
7. Yes, Generally Building 9 was quiet
8. Yes, Depending on who your neighbors are
9. Yes
Do you feel like it was worth the cost to live there? (If you feel comfortable doing so, please include cost)
1. Not at all. Rent was 506 a month on top of a 40-50 dollar electricity bill every month. I feel that it is overpriced for the accommodations
2. no, 2 bedroom $505/person- rooms are small but you have your own bathroom
3.
yes. it is 550 a month for a 2 bedroom. you get your own bathroom and
you share a kitchen with one other person. electric bills are about
15-20 dollars per person each month. Free parking is included and it is
a 1 minute walk to class
4. I think it was worth the rent for the convenience, but I don't think I would have lasted 4 years there
5. No I think is should be cheaper. They really play off the convenience to school. But for me, compared to staying elsewhere the difference was not enough to move
6. No. Extremely over priced
7. It was pretty expensive for the size room you get
8. No, I feel that the cost way too much for what
you get
9. No
Would you recommend this location to another student and why? Also please add any additional comments that you feel might be helpful for a new student moving to
1. No
2. I would recommend this to everyone. it is very convenient
3.
yes, if it is your first year and you want to live close to campus. it is nice way to meet people
4. Probably for a 1st year who does not know anyone in
5. Only if they want to wake up late and still make it to class on time
6. No. They will butter it up and try to make it sound like a good deal when you are first looking at the place. There are better options
7. No...due to the high cost, slow service on maintance requests, and poor office staff.
8. Yes,
but only because of the convenience. It's nice that you are able to
come home for lunch or between classes. And it's good for when it snows
9. This is not a terrible option, but the cost is a big issue. I lived in a two bedroom apartment there and it was still a high cost. Living alone it would certainly not be worth the cost. i lived in the same apartment there for two years and now I'm moving to the optometry residence hall mainly due to cost issues
